What is counselling?

Counselling is a safe and confidential space where you can discuss concerns, fears, and problems with someone who is trained to explore those topics ethically and without judgement. Together, we will work towards helping you understand yourself better and empower you to make changes so you can live a more authentic and balanced life.

As an integrative counsellor, my approach and understanding is that one size does not fit all when it comes to therapy. During our time together, I will draw upon a myriad of counselling and psychological theories/approaches to facilitate in your healing journey for long-lasting change.

During sessions, we will work to build a therapeutic relationship, exploring topics that feel relevant to you. I may guide you through specific exercises that are designed to help with your problem, or we may have more general discussions about how you are feeling. What you choose to talk about will vary depending on what comes up for you in the session.
It could include:

  • your relationships
  • your childhood
  • your feelings, emotions, or thoughts
  • your behaviour
  • past and present life events
  • situations you find difficult

Face to Face Counselling

Face to face counselling will be based in the offices at PAC Exeter and our sessions will take place in person. Some people feel greater connection when working face to face and find it allows them to discuss their problems or concerns in greater depth.

This is also beneficial if you don't have access to the equipment required for online/telephone sessions or if you are unable to create a quiet and confidential space in your home.

Telephone or Video

Accessing counselling online or via the telephone can be an effective approach for those who struggle to travel.

The process is much the same as it would be in face to face counselling. However, this would be taking place in your own home.

I offer a free 20 minute zoom call to all who enquire, which allows you to ask any questions you might have and for us both to determine whether we would like to work with each other.

Fees:
I charge a standard rate of £50 per session (1 hour). I offer concessionary rates of £45 per session to students and NHS workers.
